The watch company Oris has devoted its new watch to Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest jazz legends. The eponymous watch has been issued in limited series of 1,925 pieces: this number signifies the famous musician’s year of birth. The timepiece will be officially presented at Baselworld 2010.
Since the piano was Peterson’s favorite instrument, the black grooved dial of this amazing Oris watch proudly reveals piano keys, which substitute hour-markers. The dial, which resembles a vinyl record, is completed with Roman numerals.
The special eye-catcher of the watch face is numeral VIII, plated with pink gold: it implies eight Grammy Awards, bestowed on the musician in the course of his career. Pointing to the hours, minutes and seconds are nickel hands, tipped with a coat of Superluminova. The date is displayed through an exhibition window at 6 o’clock.
The Oris watch features a 42 mm case, crafted from stainless steel. Both the front and the backsides of the watch are protected by convex sapphire crystals with internal anti-glare treatment on both sides.
The Oscar Peterson watch also features a numbered case-back, engraved with a lion, which used to be a special symbol for Oscar Peterson. The model described provides 100-meter water-resistance.
Incorporated into the watch case is an automatic movement, which offers the functions of hours, minutes, seconds and date.
The Oris Oscar Peterson Limited Edition watch is presented on a black calfskin leather strap, featuring a crocodile pattern. The strap is fitted with a steel folding clasp.
